Trisha died of breast cancer in 1993, after nearly 2 years of illness. When she got sick, she lived in Ontario, Calif, was teaching journalism at Cal State Fullerton, and was near completing her Ph.D. She and her husband Kent Kurtz co-authored several books on grass, sod, and turf--he was a consultant for Scott's turfbuilder, as well as a prof at Cal Poly Pomona. They have 2 children, Heather and Todd, but I've lost track of them now.Trish and I roomed together at the U of Illinois, until Trish contracted a severe bronchitis and mono and had to drop out. I was matron of honor when she married Kent in 1964, and we visited many times over the years. She was absolutely tenacious about anything she tried, especially sports and education. She was a loving mother and a wonderful friend, and i miss her.
