ATKINSON — James E. “Jim” Shelton, 63, of Atkinson, formerly of Streator, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at the Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus Silvis.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Vandemore Funeral Home in Atkinson. The Rev. Mike McBride will officiate.


Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.


Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home.


Born June 25, 1941, in Blue Island, he was the son of Frank and Marjorie (Main) Shelton. He married Marian Guyon on July 30, 1966, in Ottawa. She survives.


Also surviving are sons, Troy Shelton of Rock Island and Tim and Christina Shelton of Moline; a granddaughter; and cousins in Streator.


His parents preceded him in death.


He was employed in the cemetery department by the City of Geneseo since 1989.
