Esther Slattery (Minder)                                                                                                                          April 3, 1941 - November 11, 2017

Esther Slattery (Minder), 76, Streator, passed away at 2:01 a.m., Saturday, November 11 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.

Visitation was from noon to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, at Hagi & Baker Funeral Home.  Funeral services  were held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  The Rev. Rory Christensen, of Central Church of Christ officiated.  Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

She was born April 3, 1941, in Streator, to Edward and Ruby (Knudston) Slattery.  She married James A. Minder on March 14, 1959, in Streator.  He preceded her in death on July 3, 2008.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Shelly Minder of Streator; a con, Brian (Kathey) Minder, of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Steve, Brian, and Robert Stavroplos, Adam Roy, Victoria Minder and Brandon Spellious; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Mosell, of Streator; and several nieces and nephews, inclluding her caregiver, Brenda Stimpert, of Streator.

She was preceded in death by her parents, hustand, and sisters Marge Osborn and Gloria Stevens.

Esther was a Streator High School graduate and a member of the Class of 1960.  

She was a CNA, having worked at St. Mary's Hospital and also at Paris Garter Factory and Opydykes in Streator.

She was a former member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and current member of St. Michael the Archangel Church.  

She especially enjoyed knitting and sewing.
