Carol Swain (Carter) 1942-1013

Carole Swain  (Carter), 71, of Crest Hill, passed away Monday, December 9, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Elias Funeral Home in Streator. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be members of her family and friends. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Born Oct. 9, 1942, in Streator, she was the daughter of Robert and Verna (Padgett) Swain.

She is survived by her daughter, Jill Ann Carter, of Crest Hill; a brother, Robert (Susan) Swain, of Charleston, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Peggy Carter, of Wilmington, and Donna Mueller, of Hope Mills, N.C.; brothers-in-law, David (Mary Kay) Carter, of Normal, James Carter, of Lostant, and Glen (Carol) Harlacher, of Hemet, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cat, Gracie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Judy Mateer; and her former husband, Terry Carter.

Carole attended Streator grade schools and  graduated from Streator Township High School in 1960.  She also  graduated from Midstate College of Commerce and Joliet Junior College.

She worked in the payroll department for McCain Foods, NALCO Chemical and Van den Bergh Foods.

Carole loved shopping, traveling, especially taking cruises, and puzzles, gardening and watching birds at her bird feeder.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
