I went to Sherman School with Sandy. In 1953 our fifth grade teacher wanted us to watch Eisenhower's inauguration. There were only a few people in the class who had T.V.s. My group walked to Sandy's house. She had told us she had color television! Unheard of at the time. She did indeed have the 1953 version of color television. Their screen had a piece of plastic over it. One third was red, one third blue, and one third green. I remember Sandy as being a lot of fun with an easy laugh. At some point she was no longer with us at Sherman School, and I lost contact with her. She is part of a grade school memory that I will always carry with me.

I grew up with Sandy, she live across the street from me, and then her family moved to Manville. They had horses, and we would spend the entire day riding the trails, and pretending we were living in the old west. We also went to the Streator roller rink together, and I remember she taught me how to skate backwards. She was a great friend.
