I am really bummed that I will not be at the reunion. I was set to come until the date change from Oct. 1 to the 8th. Take lots of pictures and have a grand time. Can't believe we are so MATURE!
Everything OK with me. Traveling as much as possible. Just got back from South Africa and Zimbabwe. So neat.
After reading everyone's profiles on this site, I realized that mine was a bit lacking. I'll try to be brief. After graduating from the U of I, I married my Texas Aggie husband, David. His years in the Air Force took us to San Antonio, Houston, the Philippines, New York and then Orlando where we have been the past 34 years. I sold real estate for awhile and then I taught 6th and 7th grade language arts and math for many years. Also was the cheerleading sponsor. (Ha!) Since retirement, we have traveled as much as possible to usual destinations and also to unique places like Easter Island, the Grecian isles, Prague and the Day of the Dead in Mexico. (I went without David to South Africa.) Our favorite far off place to visit at least yearly, though, is Seattle where Ross and family live. We are fortunate to have Leigh and grandson Zach close by.
My long term memory has big chunks missing, but I still recall so much of high school. What fun we had! Looking at all the clubs we could join, I don't know how we learned anything. I remember Dolphins, Girl Scouts, GAA and playing basketball at lunch, Hardscrabble, Tri-Hi-Y, Thespians, Band (marching and playing for games and our fabulous trip to Miami), talent shows, athletic events, my wonderful homeroom, class committees and dances and floats. My, we were something! I have this vague recollection of hitting Larry Heitz over the head with an Easter egg in Latin class. I loved being with you at the Super Dairy for lunch, the Dairy Queen anytime, the place by the railroad tracks for pizza, Oogies for tenderloins, Hills for cokes and "being seen," dances at Norris Hall and the super fantastic slumber parties with farting contests. As Dave Roffman said in my yearbook, the four years were "a bewildering, fascinating mixed-up, sensational, crazy time." We were so lucky!!
Love, Susan
