Shirley Barnes of Monroe, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 16th while snowbirding in Florida with her husband, Roger, of 44 years.
Shirley was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to William and Joy Faust on December 3rd, 1951. 
Shirley graduated from Woodland High School, Streator, Illinois in 1971. 
She married Roger Barnes of Monroe, Michigan on August 4th, 1973. 
She held various jobs including working at Dundee Community Schools, Complete Plumbing and Heating and Colonels in Milan, Michigan.
Shirley also was involved in the family concession business for 34 years. Shirley retired in 2007, choosing to spend her time with her husband, children and grandchildren. 
Shirley enjoyed spending time with family, trips to the casino, bonfires with her neighbors, and spoiling her grandchildren. She lived her life to host, cook, bake, and serve others.
Shirley is preceded in death by her mother, Joy Faust, father, William Faust, sister, Elizabeth Degroot, and brother, Richard Faust.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Barnes of Monroe, MI; son, Jeff Barnes (Christy Barnes) of Dundee, MI; daughter, Jennifer Barnes of Dundee, MI; daughter, Janell Fowler (Donald Fowler) of Dundee, MI; Jarred Barnes of Norton Shores, MI; sister, Beverly Reighard of Barberton, Ohio; sister, Janet Faust of Sugar Town, Louisiana, and 9 grandchildren, Breanna, Gabe, Jake, Aiden, Alana, Andy, Ella, Lydia and Donnie.
A memorial gathering is planned for Friday, April 13th from 6-8 p.m. at the Dundee Veterans Hall in Dundee, Michigan. There will be a short remembrance ceremony at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Shirley asks that donations be made in her name to the Dundee Wrestling Program or any Veteran related .
