School Story:

SENIOR EPITHET-SOME DAY I WILL BE AS OVERPOWERING AS MY HAIR

Seems like hair was the big thing in 1989 - literally. I gave you the specks above of what I have been doing since I left high school. I guess I can now give you some of my recollections of our large, mishmash class that to me, seemed to all get along, no matter our backgrounds. I was friends with everyone, related in some way. I always classified myself as a bit nerdy, cerebral. I was a teachers dream because I truly cared about studying and learning. Course, I loved to be entertained by all my classmates, too. Particularly, Robert, Randy, Irv, and Ronnie Scott. I remember Mrs. Goode's chemistry class and the guys pushing her every button. I know Mrs. Goode is truly a saint because she only cut a glare at them, keeping her smoooth, soft voice in check. I remember flying out of the door and racing down 22nd street at lunch. I always had 4b lunch it seemed. It was Nascar before it was popular. Wendy, Margo and I lunched at each others homes each week, and tuna sandwiches at my house was a favorite. At Wendy's, her little brother found Margo and I more interesting than lunch, and at Margo's we got to see digger dog and eat cow patties for dessert. Alphabetical order was the popular seating arrangement and I was always between Beth Carter and Lori Cecil. Everyone thought I was Beth's sister and Lori could never see the teacher for my grandiose hair style. I prided myself on hot rolling it each morning and teasing it to the moon. If I had smoked, I could have lit myself on fire rather easily with as much product as I used.

All in all, my memories were all positive. The only negative I recall was strange symptoms I began having in junior high. Numbness and incoordination in my hands. When I was twenty, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I've been doing very well, living a rich life despite disease. I am married to my high school sweetheart who hung around through college, too. David, remember him? That traitor from Hazen? He felt like one of us. He is a successful farmer involved with USA Rice Federation and Farm Bureau. We have no children, only a yellow lab named Blondie, which was my nickname, thanks to Greg Hughes. He was my secret boyfriend. Back then, we shared glances over the table in art class. I am a writer, artist(painting, sketching, and watercolor), and photographer. If I consider my books my children, I have seven of them with one on the way! I am currently writing a book of fiction and will finish it this summer. I create my characters from those around me. People say that to be a writer's friend is not fun at times. Who knows when you might show up in one of the character traits? Who knows, maybe some of you are in some of my characters? I'll never tell. To sum up the class of 1989, I'd call us a close knit group of good kids with honest intentions who liked having fun - not bending the rules, creating new ones!

I've included some of my photography and art to share. These are my children! Also, I did an interview about my books and MS on the Dave Elswick show KARN news radio and have attached the link along with alot of the poetry and art I share with MS World's online magazine. I hope you enjoy my "children" as much as I have enjoyed seeing all of yours!
