I am the SEA Life magazine coordinator and retail advertising manager for The Pine Bluff Commercial. I worked at PBC since November 2008. Previously, I worked at The Stuttgart Daily Leader in various capacities including composing manager, managing editor and advertising director. I have a passion for graphic design and the newspaper industry. I love the challenge of meeting the needs of our customers through a variety of mediums and facing the ever-changing technologies in the industry.
As for my personal life, I am married to a sports editor which suites me perfectly. I love football, basketball, soccer and baseball. We may not agree on which team to root for except for the Hawgs, but we always have fun watching the games. Danny works for The Advance in Monticello, and got to see the Billies win the state football title this past year.
I am very proud of my family. Brannon, my oldest son, plays guitar, soccer and basketball. He usually makes A/B Honor Roll and is compassionate and polite. He could charm the birds out of the trees and sell ice to an eskimo. My youngest son, Nicholas, or Nick as we call him, is all brains. He usually has his nose in a book, has had his top five list of colleges picked out since he was four and is extremely upset if he doesn't make straight A's. He is only one of two fifth-graders on the MMS Quiz Bowl Team and is on the Meekins Middle School Odyssey of the Mind Team. His favorite sports team and university is Duke. Nick plays soccer, but his favorite sport to play is basketball.
When I look back on high school, I can't believe how many activities I was involved in! I will never forget shivering with my fellow band members as we watched the Ricebirds play, or singing at the State Choir competition with the Ricelanders. I believe Annual Staff and Journalism under Bonnie Branson helped prepare me for a job I absolutely love. I might not have ever dreamed I'd end up as a pro-Apple Mac geek who loves design, the smell of ink and the noise of a press, but I wouldn't want to do anything else. All of my activities helped me get scholarships to pay for college and taught me the value of being part of a team. And if I tear up when I hear the Stuttgart Alma Mater and Fight Song, well, it's because at heart, I'll always be a Ricebird.
