Married since 1985 (25 years this June). Have 2 daughters, 1 stepdaughter. Brittany lives in Idaho Falls and works in the patient financial department at Mountain View Hospital, having just the right tact for collecting! Corttany works at Sportsmans Warehouse in Idaho Falls, and definately has the personality to do a great job. Our Stepdaughter Brandi and her husband Matt have given us 2 wonderful grandchildren (Boy 4 yrs old, Hunter & Girl, Gracie 16 months old).
I have worked outside the home almost the whole time. A few years I had a daycare and preschool in my home. (Can you believe I was a teacher!!!! I loved it.) I have been employed in the Hamer, Dubois, and Rexburg areas. I am now employed in Rexburg. I have had my share of management positions, but am enjoying the easy life of just reporting for duty!!
My husband is employed with the USDA US Sheep Experiment Station in Dubois. He enjoys spending his summers in the Centennial Mountains on horseback as much as possible. And no, there isn't any weird experiments going on! But he does get involved in on a lot of interesting research projects.
We love spending time with our family. We spend a week in the spring in Park City with a time share. And love being away, but close enough that everyone can come and go as needed.
We spend as much time as possible in Kilgore, Idaho where we own a ranch which we have our own little private campground. We have been doing a lot of little projects so that our family and friends can really enjoy their stay when they come to visit there. It's still like camping though, no water or electricity, which makes it all the more fun. We call it our little "Good Time Park"!
We enjoy hunting, camping, and outdoor activities. I enjoy taking pictures of nature and wildlife. It's fun seeing what kind of a shot I can catch or just how close I can get. Maybe in the future I will be trading in my gun for one great camera! We enjoy doing outdoor and dutchoven cooking. To pass time it is fun to try new recipes. I really like cooking and baking, and by our not so girlish figures you can tell I do more of it than I should!!
In the wintertime, we like getting with our family/extended family or others to play games or have a movie night.
I love being a grandma, and get my grandchildren to stay as much as I can. It seems that I may believe in the statement that says "don't spoil your children, that's what grandparents are for"! My grandson has even gotten to be our camping partner. I have been teaching him to do the sneak.(getting really close to the wildlife!) And he is getting really good. I guess we are able to sneak better than some, cause for now we are both closer to the ground! I haven't gotten much taller since 1985!!!!
Boyd and I love working on little projects and between each of our talents and skills we have been able to turn out some pretty cool items and to complete a lot of accomplishments throughout our marriage. I'm guessing that enjoying each others companionship and working well together is how it is possible to make it 25 years! Even though we talk about being at a stage in life to sit back and watch our kids grow up and go through life now, it seems we keep just as busy as always and maybe even more so.
We still enjoy the horses and trail-riding, but decided we didn't go enough to warrant owning our own horses anymore so last fall we sold our last two.(It is hard getting used to not having horses around, since we have always had horses) But, we enjoy our 5th-Wheel Camper, and we don't have to feed it year round. In fact, I am a little spoiled in the fact that a year and a half ago I was able to pick out my dream camper. I got it just the way I wanted it, right down to the details. It is kinda like our second home, only portable!
In the past we have enjoyed helping in the community. Like with horse 4H, hunters safety course teacher, Scout merit badges, Girls Camp, and several other things.
We haven't done a lot of moving around. We started in Salem -2 yrs, moved to Parker -6 yrs, Hamer -17 yrs.
Really, our family is our life. It is awesome to watch them grow and experience. Boyd and I enjoy sharing with them and making the memories that we are able to make. We like helping our family and friends.
We are looking forward to the life as empty-nesters, so they call it. (I haven't really seen the meaning behind that statement!) Getting to focus once again on dreams, desires and accomplishments we would like to achieve. And hitting that next stage in life.
Reading back through this sounds all cheery and great, but I would be lying if I said everything was perfect. Life as it is didn't come without trials and errors, but that is where we get to be who we are and to where we are.
I know it is amazing that it has been 25 years since graduating from High School, and for a period of years I will admit I didn't have a whole lot of interest in looking up my fellow classmates, but I guess like with other things, the older we get the more we appreciate things. We've all heard "If I knew then what I know now!", I'm sure we all would have done some things different. I think for one thing we would have known how to have some really good times!! I am looking forward to hearing what everyone has been up to, and hope that everyone is finding their glitch in life! I'm just glad that 25 years doesn't mean what it used to, because to me, 25 is just a drop in the bucket! Even though the years have gone by, it doesn't mean that I am really getting that much older!!! There's a lot more I am going to see and do! The past few years as I have ran into some classmates, it has become an enjoyment to hear how others are doing.
