40th Reunion Photo Share
Posted Tuesday, August 9, 2011 12:42 AM

Does anyone want to join in on a photo share of all the pictures taken at the reunion? Ahhhhh, the digital age and digital pictures with digital storage.

My idea is to have everyone who wants to see everyone else's pictures, and include their own, to burn your pictures to a disk. Then send those disks with your pictures to me. I will then take everyone's pics and place them in folders named for the sender of those pictures. When everyone who wants pictures has sent theirs in, I'll then burn those named folders to a disk and send them out to participants. If someone who didn't have a camera or take pictures wants a disk, I'll send to them too. You don't have to send pictures to get a disk of our reunion pics.

I sure ain't gonna make any money doing this, and I'm not trying to. To cover disk cost, whatever I need to package the disks and postage, I thought five dollars would cover everything.

I think it would be a lot of fun to see hopefully hundreds from everyone else's point of view. Please don't forget to remove any of those "Fun in the hotel room after the reunion" kind of pics, OK?

Anybody in on this idea? Let's get a discussion going below and see what we can come up with.

And don't be shy, I want to hear from EVERYONE!!!

This is a great idea. Thinking I need a dvd recorder to burn to a disk. For our 50th, let's get another class picture. Miss that.

Sandi, probably no need to buy a DVD burner. You should be able to burn them to a CD with your computer. Copy the pics to your computer, then burn them to the CD. I don't know what OS you're using, but dragging files to your CD ROM icon usually puts them in a que ready for burning.

My idea is to have it like weddings I've seen where there are disposable cameras handed out. This gives a great variety of points of view from those who attended. All the pictures are pooled together and given to the newlyweds. I think it would be cool if we did the same thing with all the reunion pics, except share them with any and everyone who wants copies.

Just gotta see how many people want to join in and do it.

If you get stuck, Sandi, go to the Start menu and click on Help and Support. Then look for Burn CD.

Try this (From Win XP). I use custom burning software, so I haven't done this. I believe I also have Windows burning software disabled or not installed.

To copy files and folders to a CD
Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD recorder.
Open My Computer.
Click the files or folders you want to copy to the CD. To select more than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file, Copy this folder, or Copy the selected items.
If the files are located in My Pictures, under Picture Tasks, click Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD, and then skip to step 5.

In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then click Copy.
In My Computer, double-click the CD recording drive. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are held before they are copied to the CD. Verify that the files and folders that you intend to copy to the CD appear under Files Ready to be Written to the CD.
Under CD Writing Tasks, click Write these files to CD. Windows displays the CD Writing Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

Hey Donna

Trying to get others interested, especially since I don't know how many pics are out there. If more people decide to join in, there could be quite a few. I'm gonna give it a little more time and probably shoot out another email and see what happens.

Once the disk is burned it goes to you...where would that be?

Laura, send it with $5 to:

Steve Hagensicker
Box 625
Sunnyside, WA  98944

When I'm sure all that want to particpate have sent in their pictures and I know everyone else who wants a disk, I'll organize and put everything together and send the disks out. I'll name folders by who sent the pics and place those pics in that folder. That way everyone will get proper credit for their pictures.

I have tons of intersting pictures I've gotten off the internet over the years. I'm thinking if there's room on the disk, I'll throw a bunch of extras on. I have all kinds of categories. Maybe even some funny videos. Sorry, no XXX :-)

I have another idea that could make a photo disk a lot of fun.

Photos don't just have to be from the reunion. I'm sure everyone has photos of their own they'd like to show off or just share. These could be of your daily lives, old school pics, around town pics, pets, family, grand kids, your cars, at your job, on vacation, embarrassing situations, cool pics you've found online..... the list goes on and on.

We could put together a ton of photos that we could all look at for years to come and probably get a smile every now and then. I personally think it would be a kick in the ass to put something together like this, something our families would even like to look at from time to time. The variety of happenings in our lives over the years, something from and for everyone. Maybe one last group project before too many of us up and kick off?

You don't have to do a thing except get the pictures to me and I'll put it all together. Any other ideas, comments??

Hey Steve...I will put the money in the mail to you.  Are you sure $5 is enough?  Do you want us to send you a prepaid envelope or something of that sort for you to send the disk to us?  Just let me know!  Looking forward to seeing your Class of '71 creation!

Thanks again!

Hey Donna

I think $5 will cover everything, maybe with a little left over. But if it doesn't, that's fine. $5 was the offer I made and I stick with it. No need for an envelope or anything extra, that's covered with the payment.

Hey, Steve. Are you still accepting pics from our reunion? I have mine to send you and I want to get the disk, too? Next week I will be taking my pics to my daughter so that she can burn them on a disk for you, if it's not too late.

Not a problem Linda. I don't know if you got the email I just sent out, but I don't want to be trying to get this done for the next six months, so I had to put some kind of time limit for things. If you didn't get the email, I'll post it below.

********

Time is running out to submit pictures and/or, order your photo disk. August 31st is the cutoff date for either.

If you have pictures to submit, do it now. If you have pictures to submit and want a disk, do it now. Cost for a photo disk is only $5, but after August 31st, it will be $10........ no exceptions. If I receive payment or photos after that date, but postmarked the 31st or before, cost will still be $5.

You can mail payment/photos to me at Box 625, Sunnyside. If you have a PayPal account, you can submit online payment to:

stevemr2@televar.com

Be sure you include your name and address so I know who to send to.

I don't have enough reunion photos to fill a CD, so I took the time to include a lot of extras from my personal files. These extras are photos, videos, humor, cartoons and many other things to make sure the disk has enough stuff to hopefully keep you looking it over for some time to come.

August 31st......, this is when I'll finish putting everything together and start sending out the disks. You can order any time after that date, but the $10 cost will still apply.
