Terra Lyn Green (Brinton)

Obituary:

Terra Lyn Brinton (Green), 55, fought her final battle with cancer on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, with her husband and mother at her side.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1953 to Brice and Mary Green and lived in the Sunnyside and Grandview area all of her life. She graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1971. She attended college at WWSU in Bellingham and YVCC in Yakima where she earned her degree. Throughout her school years, she developed many good friendships and seven of the friends have continued to foster this closeness through visits, phone calls and a monthly dinner out. During her illness they cooked and delivered many meals to her and her family. Whitney Brown, Debbie Amos, Nori Murray, Debbie Stenberg, Rita Eberle, Pat Hood and Helen Andrews, you are all special angels here on earth.

In February 1973 her father passed away and she returned to Sunnyside to help her mother in the store they owned and she helped run the store until it was sold in 2006. JR Cardenas and Irene Perez worked and supported us wholeheartedly in the store and are also very close friends, Terra loved you very much. In June, 1976 her mother married Larry Kresse and she gained the sister she had always wanted. Through the years, Larry's daughter, Jan Brown and Terra have been sisters and also loving friends. Jan has been there for her through all the illnesses, fun times, boating, camping and shopping that they enjoyed together and also brought food to Terra and the family. Another special angel!

In June 1982 Terra and Richard Brinton were married. After the birth of their only child, Alayna Marie, in September 1986 they moved to their present home in the Grandview area. Laynie is such a blessing and joy to them and, although she is attending WSU in Pullman, not a day goes by without her calling and keeping in touch. Terra and Laynie were not only mother and daughter but they were best friends.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Alayna; mother, Mary of Sunnyside; her grandmother, Alta Bodily of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her sister, Jan of Grandview; step-brother, Cary Kresse of Outlook; three aunts, Barbara Johnston, Jeanette Luce and Rose Tyger; uncle, Remes Stewart; many cousins of Idaho; children of uncle Lyle Green, Kelly, Shelley and Paula; and all of her special friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Brice Green; stepfather, Larry Kresse; grandfather, Roland Stewart; step-brother, Bill Kresse; uncle, Lyle Green; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Mary Brinton; and sister-in-law, Debbie Blessing.

The family would like to thank North Star Cancer Center, Dr. Tony Ha and Deann for their untiring and loving attempt to keep her with us.

Terra will be forever in the hearts and minds of the loved ones she left behind. "I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: "There she is gone! "Gone where?" Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: "There, she is gone!" There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: "Here she comes!" And that is dying."

Terry (as I recall her going by) was in my third grade class.  We both had a crush on each other.  She was my first "girlfriend".  She is pictured with Rick Roach in our high school album.  I can't remember what the photo was for, but something like best dancers.  It saddens me to think of her passing.
