Ed was the youngest member of our class. We met in our sophomore year running cross country and became best friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was as adventuresome as they come. We shared a love of the outdoors and spent many hours in the hills around the valley. In January of 1963, we joined the Air Force on the buddy system and went to basic training together. After that, I went to Europe for three years and Ed went into the Military Police and traveled the world. Ed made a career of the military and served our country honorably. One of his most memorable tours of duty was in Vietnam. I was lucky enough to see my friend, at the 40th reunion, one more time. He told me he had a daughter, but never told me her name. My mistake was not asking. Sadly, Ed passed away, here in Las Vegas, on August 9, 2009.I miss my friend and his never ending smile. He was a good man.
