I went straight to UofW Seattle following graduation. I started out as a Physics major though I changed to Linguistics after one year of getting worked. From there I worked in Paris for the summer of 2001, where I completely realized that I love communicating with people in other languages. Through an interesting succession of events I started Mandarin Chinese following my time in Paris. In the fall of 2002 I started would would turn into a two year study abroad in Beijing China. (It was interupted for five months by the Saris outbreak. *cough*)
I graduated college in December 2004 and decided to do an internship at my church in fall of 2005. That was I met (for the second time) my fiancee, though we remained acquaintances at best until the internship finished. We then became good friends. Everything was strictly platonic. I was vocal about wanting to marry a Chinese girl who spoke fluent French or a French girl of Chinese heritage. In Feburary of 2007 Jamie finally succeeded in convincing our pastors (of The City Church) to let her go down to Puebla, MX to pioneer an internship program at a Christian church there. Five days or so before she left, I realized that I was going to miss her "much more than a friend". So I asked her out the day she left. I actually talked to her on her layover in Texas. She stalled, but the next day decided to give it a go. We've had a wonderful long distance relationship since then, thanks to cellphones, skype, and God. I proposed on March 29th, 2008. We get married on May 23rd, 2009. FINALLY after 2 yrs and 3 months of dating.
We will honeymoon for two weeks in Mexico, fly back to Michigan for another reception then fly back down to Mexico where we'll live until January 2010 when we move to China so I can complete my Mandarin studies and continue to grow my business. (I got fed up with my job, so I quit and started IYQ Development in order to generate the kind of cash it'd take to support living abroad.)
I'm currently expanding my business in China.
