Where else have you lived since high school & now?

I have lived only in Thurston County & Pierce County.

Did you actually graduate with the WHS class of 1989, or were you part of our class & left before graduating?:

I did actually graduate from WHS, class of '89. What I remember most from High School was Jazz choir, we performed so many times and I really enjoyed all the time we all put into the shows.

Your Personal Story:

I actually started in nursing at St. Clare Hospital on the Medical/ Surgical unit. After putting in almost a half decade there I realized, I really wasn't into it. So later, I worked at a school district part time as a driver for children with special needs. Soon after that I divorced, then kind of just fell into a postion with Pierce Transit. Even though we all have "Big Plans" after HS, I am finding that I really never could decide on what I want to be when I grew up- but that spending alot of time with my husband and my kids is what makes me happy most of all! Also, I find I am always looking at wierd classes to do or adventures to go on. I guess I will be a student for life...

What’s your situation on the homefront? (e.g., Married, domestic partnered, divorced, widowed, shacked up, single, wild and crazy, let’s not go there, etc.)

Married

How many times have you been married?

lets not go there!!!

If you do not have a "job" that makes money, then what do you do with your days?

I drive for Transit's Shuttle program. This is designed as a transportation service for all ages and is specified for person with disabilities or elderly.

Where have you traveled? What are your favorite trip memories? Upcoming destinations?

I have traveled to a few of the Hawaiian islands. My family & I have vacationed along the west coast from Washington to my birth state (Texas).

Have you ever met a famous person?

I have! My husband is into Sports- one of them being wrestling. Well During one of our travels back home, to Texas, he kept trying to get my attention. Of course being o'dark thirty at the lovely SeaTac airport, I was trying to get the kids fed before our flight. I had all the little ones tugging at me for their breakfast orders and him as well. He kept saying, Honey- come meet Eddie, come meet Eddie. I was recalling no memory of any family/friends named Eddie. So I Said just a mintue, let me get this done for the kids. He kept tugging so I grunted , who the hell is Eddie? I turned and low and behold it was Eddie Garrero(not sure how to spell) AKA "the Latino Heat" . I recognized him and after seeing him in person I thought WOW, he is so small. Of course I went and meet him and he had been traveling with a couple other pro wrestlers and it lead to an interesting morning. My husband of course got their signatures on the back of a Burger King napkin and was in heaven the rest of the vacation.

What careers have you had since high school? Worst job? Best job?

Worst Job- Nurses assistant, I enjoyed working with the elderly- just not so much with the personal care.
Best Job- I would say being a mom definately!

College? Grad School? Where did you go and what degrees did you earn?

I attended Clover Park technical College for several classes: Certified Nurses Assistant, Medical Terminology, CDL class B (passenger), & Phlebotomy, I also attended BCTI to touch up on computer technology.

What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?

As a family, We like to camp at the ocean and in Levenworth, we go on raod trips to see different towns, we like to grow fruit & Veggies-we travel to Monroe each year to bring the apples and do a day of canning- I make an awesome applesauce! We like to do lots of stuff with the kids school programs.
I myself in particular- i love scarry movies- not bloody gorey ones, and spooky ones. I am a toal spa junkie pedicures, messages, facials(all the girlie/pampering stuff)

What are your favorite memories about WHS?

I think that my favorite thing was how friendly every one was. It was easy to make friends, read below first - then this one will make sence!!

What did you dislike the most about high school?

My dad being military, the only thing I didnt like about WHS was having to start there for my junior year. So I guess being new and not knowing alot of people was the only thing that bothered me.

Favorite teachers and classes?

Mrs. Macnamara's choir class, I really enjoyed her class. It was an escape from home work !

Least favorite teachers or classes?

English- I didnt catch any interest for that for several years, of course I couldn't sit still for more than 10 minutes

Did you have a secret crush in high school?

Who didnt have a crush? And to talk about them now- I think I will dodge that Bullet!!

What is the biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at WHS?

What I would change? I would have stood up for a person that was upset about a rumor.
Even further, I should have told that person it was their friend that was spreading it but instead I took the blame because they were really upset from it.

What would you like to tell your high school self now that you’re older and wiser?

I guess I would say, do more & enjoy more!

Are you still surprised you got away with something back then?

I was to chicken to do anything my parents would yell at me about. Well maybe not chicken- I didnt want them to be disappointed.

Did you ever venture onto 'The Hill', before you were a Senior, knowing it would probably annoy someone?

You know- no one ever bothered me about it. I didnt even know it was this big thing till the end of my junior year.

What do you think we had in common with today’s teenagers? What was different, better and worse?

I think that the same pressure's are still there but now it has worstened. The violence you hear in the news with local schools, speaks for itself!

What are your favorite 80s fashion & hairstyle memories?

Day Glo braceletts!! You know what was funny? I remember doing a sale to raise money for cheerleading. We had sold the tan-in-a-bottle stuff along with other beach/summer things. We had sold alot and what I remember was we had all got it and after applying it, we were all orange. Some of us forgot to thoroughly wash our hands and had orange hands too. Funny???

Favorite 80s TV shows and movies?

You know the series I recall the most is 90201, but am not sure if it was end 80's or early 90's...

Favorite 80s music?

I had a huge love for music and I liked numerous genres.

What is a political or world event that stands out in your mind from the 80s? How did it affect your view of the world?

I recall the summer after gradutation-Saudi Arabia. I was sure that a bigger war would happen. I never thought that almost 10 years later it would occur.

Do you think you're more conservative or liberal than you were in high school? Are you surprised?

Some views have changed but ultimately my values haven't. I have become more empathetic.

What would we be surprised to learn about you?

With my last child, he was a fertility baby. Apparently I had developed a cardiac issue and it went undiagnosed. Until I got pregnant with #4, I had SVT-Supraventriculartachicardia (fast heart rate). Well, the only way to slow it down was to stop it. I had my heart stopped 6 times during the pregnancy this was because the other method involved using electricity to shock my heart to normal. Well that would have killed the baby. So they used a IV drug to do the same thing and incredibly enough the babys heart beat every time mine didn't. So he was never affected by this. Amazing??Numerous health issues arose from the last baby and when I gave birth to him, it all went away- except the SVT had sugery for it and am cured of SVT now. Scary thing is doctors never knew what triggered it. I had no reason to develope it so early in life.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next 10 years

Just to enjoy life, my family & wonder what will come!!
