I went to college in Kansas City, Missouri and married in 1967 to a retired Naval Officer and we moved to New York for 5 years. We moved back here and began our family. I went to work in social services when the girls went to school ....... and was very lucky to have many interesting opportunities in that capacity. I worked with the University of Washington in their Education Department for 5 years, with the Department of Justice when the Americans with Disabilities Act was implemented - traveling to all of the western states and territories - teaching the finer points of the Act. And finally retired from Pierce County after 12 years working with families of 0-3 aged children. I loved every one of my jobs and retirement wasn't easy for the first year (and I worked until I was 70). But I have the hang of it now! I have been on the condo board since moving here - which, by the way, is a hard and pretty thankless job - if you are planning on trying it!

School Story

The thing that has shocked me more than anything else: I recognize more names on the passed away list than the student list!

I am bursting with pride - my middle daughter will get her Masters in teaching this year and her eldest daughter will begin her Masters when college resumes! I think they are racing each other. Everyone is making mother and grandmother very proud. And I will soon have TWO granddaughters married.

I am willing to bet that I turn at your farm to get to my daughter's farm! Where in Roy are you located?

Barbara Waers Bilyeu has left an In Memory comment for Pauline Vaswig.

I remember, at the time, hearing of Pauline's untimely death. (I was just about to finish flight attendant training for Western Airlines and everyone heard about it) It is alway tragic for someone so young and full of life to have it cut short so suddenly. Frankly I don't remember very many people from high school - there are a lot of years in between - but I do remember Pauline and have though about her several times over the years.
