Tony, very nice job on the site. I lost my eyesight six years ago so it's a little hard for me to maneuver. But I can only use the tools that are available to me. Thanks for putting this altogether.

Thank You for the information on Reunioun. Sorry unable to attend. I am doing well; enjoying retirement after 31 years of US NAVY service. Thanks again. Rich Thiel

Hey, Mark! I won't muse about how long it's been. At our age, EVERYthing seems to be about decades.

There are plenty of pleasant bedroom communities in the greater Tampa Bay area. My wife and I live in Lakeland, a sedate (a bit too much so for my taste) but relatively affordable city less than an hour from Tampa. I used to commute to my job at The Tampa Tribune, and it was about a 40-minute trip. Not great, but not bad. Lakeland's a cookie-cutter town, but has a fair amount to offer in the way of culture. Its accessibility to Orlando and Tampa is a big draw, and there are parts of town that are very nice, yet still relatively inexpensive in terms of real estate. Plant City is another possibility. Once you start talking Winter Haven, Frostproof, etc., you're getting pretty far from Tampa proper.

Good luck with the move. A good person to contact is Jeri Beatty Thomas, who is heading up the Class of '76 reunion committee. The reunion, as you may know, is Aug. 5 and 6. Jeri's on Facebook, and she seems to know almost everybody, and may be able to get you in touch with helpful people.

All best.

Ted Hoffman

Thank you to Jeri and her team of Chiefs for a memorable reunion weekend!  We needed to do a rain dance to keep the rain away!  To all who attended, congratulations on a successful event!  Deb and Ted, your Memory Lane video was clever and most entertaining!  Thank you for the laughs!  Jeri, I'm sure plans are already underway for a group 60th birthday celebration in 2018!

To the radiant Ms. Giglio, thanks for your nice comments about my weirdo performance with Deb. (Yeesh, that sounds smutty!) It was a lot of fun, and made worthwhile by the wonderful reception it got. But it was the small, personal moments that made the reunion special for me, and seeing you was lovely. I can't tell you how much I appreciate and adore you, despite seeing you so infrequently. (We'll have to do something about that...) I'm rooting for you, and here if you need me in any way. You and Kathy are dangerously alluring! It's like beauty gone exponential! Thank you for the splendid conversation and the sweet smiles.

And, on a broader note, thank you to everyone who enjoyed the "show." And to everyone who took a moment to chat with the skinny balding guy. And to Jeri and everyone who put the reunion together. And to Bill Fischer for wearing deodorant. I toast you all! [clink!]

Hey Carter!  Hope you are doing well.  Sorry it took so long for me to see your post.  I'm not sure what I've been doing since quarantining last year, but it sure seems as thought I've been busy!

I retired in 2011 and have been loving it!  Randy (Coach Thomas) retired in 2000 from teaching.  27 years at CHS--wow!  I tell him he's a slow learner. :-)

We didn't see too many friends or family for most of 2020 but are starting to make up for lost time now that we are fully vaccinated.  Just went to a party this last weekend and saw several classmates though.  It was great to see friends again!  I've missed everyone so much.

We will get busy planning our 45 +1 reunion for next year.  We felt it better to not have one this year--tough decision, but traveling, lodging and gathering just wasn't in the cards for many people this year.

I put your number in my contacts and will definitely touch base with you soon--but not after 9:30!!  LOL

Carter -

Thanks for posting. It sounds as if your amazing positive attitude has carried you well through life and undoubtedly blessed those around you. Thanks for getting the ball rolling and sharing.

I've been married for 38+ years to an unbelievably tolerant woman; we have 3 children and 4 grandkids. We are tremendously proud of the kids and their accomplishments...I am truly amazed that I had even just a little bit to do with that.

I chased a career in Cable TV and then to Satellite TV, which took me from Zephyrhills to Alabama to TX and then to OH followed by TN. I'm not sure I would have planned it that way, but the technical aspects of the industry fascinated me and the desire to do something more took me further away from home (FL) and family. I don't regret any of the stops along the way and each has their contributions to the quilt of our lives. We finally made it back to S FL about 15 years ago and the only way I am leaving now is in a box (just hopefully not too soon).

Most weekend mornings are spent on the back patio with a couple cups of strong coffee and a little music. The golden carrot of retirment is still several years out, which is a good thing. It gives me some time to figure out how to spend all that spare time.

I get on FaceBook once in a while to keep up with the goings-on of Jeri, Bill Fischer and a couple of others. I enjoy the glimpse of old classmates but despise the medium. (ask my wife who's heard me cussing out loud). I'll keep an eye out to see what other classmates take the bait here and share their thoughts. Once again, thanks for starting off.

Sean

Hi Carter, I don't usually open these much as I hate to hear of someone passing, so I took a chance and saw your message on the forum.  I don't keep up with all the news as I don't do Facebook, Instagram etc.  Sounds like your doing very well and that you and your family have made it through the pandemic healthy! I have been now at American Airlines in my 37th year and I fly international so this pandemic has been crazy, last year in feb and March I brought in the last Hong Kong flight and a Shanghai flight and flew my last trip on mar 23 for 5 months, luckily because of my seniority I was able to have paid months leave, I came back sept 1st, we still had some Europeans Korea, no China , but our passenger load is so low, only duel passports for that country and military and their families, I got in from Korea last night and our 787 was only half full, it's really picking up which is great, just waiting for the other countries, to let us passengers back in and what they will have to do to get there.  I believe it will be vaccinations eventually, will see!  Luckily we have lots of international that I'm still flying, as crew we are excempt!  Those 5 months off were so busy that I couldn't wait to get back to work, my husband had so many projects we were doing and we did so much landscaping and home projects at our son and daughter-in-laws house 2 1/2 hours away in Kansas, I haven't had that much time off since I was pregnant with my kids in 90 and 91.  I've been fortunate during this pandemic that my job has allowed me to travel all over the world and not be stuck at home, I feel for my husband and kids and all my friends that have been stuck at home working their jobs and it's been harder for the kids who miss school and probably will have to repeat or our school sports where the kids who have lost their chance to shine for college sports and the college life that they are missing, I thank god everyday that my kids had great college and athletic college experiences and I only wish that for everyone else!  If we can find any good it would be for the busy families normally now have had some great real family time e they were not getting.

For the past 2 years I have also been helping a dog rescue in cabo, Mexico and I deliver ( carry them) some are big and have to be crated and delivering them to their new adoptive parents, since I fly for free and can carry them for free! We lost our dog of 13 and a half 5 years ago this is my way of dealing, it's to hard for me to lose them. I keep in touch and see pictures of their new lives and I know what it was before and it's so rewarding!  If I have 2 to carry, my husband comes with me!  I delivered a little girl puppy the end of feb to la, just 5 days away from us requiring a COVID test to come to us!  The puppies have to be at least 4 months old so they can have there rabies shots which are required to go thru and into us, sometimes there not quite that age but there growing so we have to fudge a little lol, I have delivered 16 so far! It was so hard during the pandemic, no traveling!1. We have also been busy planning for our daughters  wedding on sept 18th in Tuscany, Italy, hoping all goes well, Italy is open for all my work trips but not quite yet for Americans! My kids are son 30 almost 31 and he's married and works for Amazon and our daughter is 29 and will turn 30 2 1/2 weeks after she marries and she is a creative strategist for Snapchat, snap inc. and her and her fiancé live in wicker park, downtown Chicago! Luckily for me we have flights from Wichita to Chicago so I can always pop up, I'm based in Dallas ft worth and commute by plane from Wichita to work!  I was glad to see that Jeri mentioned our reunion that was suppose to be this summer is just going to be postponed until next year!, I hope everyone stays safe and healthy until then!  Keep posting.       Deb

Well, can you believe it?  It's almost Thanksgiving 2021 and before you know it, the 45+1 Reunion of the best dadgum class of people will be upon us.  I am so looking forward to seeing many of you who live far and wide away next August.  Be sure to make your room reservations at the Safety Harbor Spa (a fabulous venue) while they are still available.

Like many of you, my career is winding down as my plan is to go part-time starting January 1.  My boss has agreed to let me go down to just a 40 hour work-week with the full expectation of final retirement after 19 1/2 years with the company at the end of 2022.  This will provide me time to play Pickleball every day in 2021 (weather permitting).  Come January 1, 2023, I fully intend to call it quits and become another obnoxious retiree that has no idea what day of the week it is as they will all be Saturdays for us. Kate is currently in her final year of teaching the luckiest group of 1st graders to ever step inside Challenger K8 School in Spring Hill, Fl.  She is looking forward to not having to make any more lesson plans after 38 years of educating eager 6 year olds (as well as one slightly dense husband).

Wishing you all a fabulous holiday season.  Hugs to all.

BF
