Since graduation i went to work for a company call Osterneck copr. in Lumberton N.C. I worked with them for 6 and a half years. After i left Osterneck i went to Bladen Community college were i enrolled in the Geriatrics progarm for a year. While in this program i Graduated with honors and recieved my Nurrsing assistant 1 and 2 certifications. After the program i went to work for a home health agencey called Americare were i did home health for 2 years . I then was offered another job as a group home manager for a company called Family Alternatives i accepted and worked for this company for Almost 10 years . The first 8 and a half year i managed a home with 6 mentally challenged adult. Making sure that their life was full of fun and complete with all the things they needed to survive and maintain a normal healthy life in todays society . Myself along with other staff taught them how to provide for their selves and complete household skills and goals to make them independent. I also work with the special olympic and became a Bocce coach for 4 years. I had 2 teams which competed representing Bladen County in the County wide Olympics in Winsten Salemn. While working at the group home it taught me that people are so quick to miss judge others with out getting to know them first. It helped me to not be judgemental in todays society and to treat everyone as equals. I left the group home but remained with the company at this time i switched positions and became a community support worker with a special needs child in the school system. After i left Family Alternatives i became employed and still remain as of today at Cape Fear Valley Hospital as a Nursing Assistant 2 on 5 south i have been here for over a year now and really enjoy what i do. I work with patients helping them to get better and be comfortable while on thier stay with us in the hospital. Putting a little Cheer in thier day.
