Karen Devane Hales

Since graduating in 1990, I married my high school sweetheart and we have three wonderful children. We have been married for 17 years.Life has been far from easy but we are very blessed!! My husband is a Master Firefighter in Cary, NC and I am receptionist at West Bladen. I wanted to be a teacher but due to circumstance that didn't happen. I do enjoy working with the high school kids! I may not be teaching but I do make a difference in some of their lives.I am really happy with the life that the Lord has blessed me with. Things for my family are looking up!! We have climbed out of the valley and are headed up the hill! Always remember, when given lemons make lemonade!!

I am so glad that I went to Tar Heel. It was such a wonderful school and we all knew each other. The high schools today the kids don't have the chance to get to know each other. We might have hated Tar Heel while we were there but man I miss it now and wish that my kids could have graduated from Tar Heel as Panthers!! I think it is really funny that I found the love of my life while we were both wearing Panther uniforms. He was the football player and I was the cheerleader. Sounds like a county song. I couldn't wait to get out of high school and now I have a son that will be graduating this year. Man how time flies!! I may be a KNIGHT now but I will ALWAYS BE A PANTHER!!!!!!
