I'm swimming in memories of various happenings at Portola (and Taft). Here are a few:
- Charlotte Hoback (English teacher) telling Dorlee GOdwin not to say the "lord's name in vain" and screaming "Praise the Lord" in class. Several years later, Ms. Hoback was fired because she had forged her teaching credential!
- All of the people who smoked cigarettes across the street from Portola
- Running the mile in 6 mins, 3 secs thanks to Todd Croutch (who paced me)
- Tetherball, dodgeball, and handball; and heads-up, 7 up when it rained
- Mr. Vineyard: "Individual workout, 15 minutes..."
- Gold trunks...I could never do pull-ups!
