UPDATE: Loved the reunion--I was amazed at the turnout! Pretty interesting night to watch unfold, especially since I stayed stone sober...it was a lot like nutrition period back in the old days!

I was bummed to find my camera on the fritz, so after I finally cajoled Gary Abrams into frame instead of behind the cameras, it didn't turn out. Maybe one of the other five cameras that snapped that shot got it? Grrr. Meanwhile, I posted the ones that DID turn out. Great to see everyone!

It's been a long road since Portola, but looking at this website makes me ALMOST believe it was just yesterday!

I've lived in beautiful Redlands for almost 19 years now, am living my dream of being a novelist (under the pen name "Lisa Logan") and enjoy movies, going "green," gardening, family, and homeschooling the youngest (the only one still at home!)

I've also recently gotten involved as an event organizer for Thrill The World, a world record dance attempt and charity fundraiser. http://thrilltheworld.com.

--Mr. Fischli sticking a pacifier in people's mouths if they "whined." Teachers don't come like Richard anymore.

--The school "narcs" chasing us off campus when we ditched...they looked a lot like the Mod Squad guys

--Lisa Kudrow doing a Helen Reddy impersonation during "Personal Development" class (imagine public schools now offering courses in hair and makeup...half of 'em don't even want to acknowledge ART as a subject.)

--The Speed Reading teacher Mr. Broyles, who was so short I could look him straight in the eye...when I was SEATED

--The drama teacher pulling the curtain on us in the middle of a drama assembly because our group started lipsynching Queen's "Get Down Make Love"

--Glee Club and Choir...Shirley Abramowitz doing all the soprano solos.

--Doing drill team drills to the Bee Gees!! (And Ms. Anderson trying to instruct us)

--Playing poker and dice during A.V. when Mr. Fischli was out of the room

--Detention, Mr. Grieff, more detention

--Being the 1st student at Portola to make the threatned non-grad list for "breaking school rules"...not because other kids weren't as bad or worse, but because I ditched most of 9th and kept my grades high enough somehow that they had to find SOME excuse. I lost the Disneyland trip over THAT note home. I think I'm still grounded.

--People I'd never seen before asking me to forge teacher passes because I got pretty good at it

--The ceremonial Yanking Of The Tube Top on the last day of class each year.

--Dorothy Hamill hair, saddleback jeans, flare bottoms--I was SO incensed when the 80's brought in the peg leg! And wishing platforms weren't in because I was already taller than most of the cute boys.
