Barbara and I were friends for over 70 years, beginning with Sunday School at Grace Lutheran Church prior to kindergarten and then continuing through all our school years. We lived about 5 houses apart on Maple Ave., and we walked to school and church together from 5 years old until we graduated from high school. She was a kind and loving person and I have many happy memories of summer vacations with her and her family at their summer home at Green Pond, NJ. Larry and I were fortunate to spend time with Barbara and Demo over the past 12 years or so and had lots of fun together with them, as well as with Ginny Testa and her significant other. My life has been richer for having her in it and sharing her friendship. She was the most selfless person I have ever known and will miss her but am gald she is no longer in pain.
I shared many similar memories of Barbara when we were young as Priscilla lovingly noted. Unlike Priscilla I didn’t really appreciate Barbara until we were adults. Perhaps as she was quiet and unasumming though I did recognize her soft, sweet demeanor and her abilities. In life, she adopted her German-Greek family values of hard work, honesty, integrity and kindness and lived reflecting these values. She was more concerned about you than herself. Even while having a long battle with a debilitating disease she was brave and uncomplaining.
When we met with her and Demo you felt she was content just being with you. Accepting you as you and happy to pick up where we left off the last time we saw one another. Completely unpretentious, non-judgemental, she was a joy to have as a friend. I will miss her but am so grateful that she was my friend.
Barbara was my neighbor on Maple Ave and we often went to Grace Lutheran Church up the block for Walther League events. I saw Barbara at our 50th Reunion in 2011. I left Teaneck in 1960 between my Junior and Senior year and moved to Texas where I have been for the last 60+ years. Even though I graduated from Bellaire High School in Houston, my heart has always been with Teaneck HS and my friends there.

So sorry to hear that my Teaneck neighbor on Maple Avenue has passed away.
I had seen her at our 50th Reunion in 2011. Of course, we remembered the old times at Grace Lutheran Church.
I've included a few snaps that might be nice to remember Barbara by.
