Class Of 1969
Welcome to the official Teaneck High School Class Of 1969 web site.
To All Teaneck Class of '69Highwaymen!
A Note to the Teaneck High School Class of 1969 (September 2025)
Dear Teaneck High School Class of 1969,
As we welcome another September, I’m reminded of how quickly life moves. College football is in full swing, Major League Baseball is in its final month, and the markets are at all-time highs $$. Life never slows down, and neither should we. The clock is always ticking, and the game is still on.
This month also marks the one-year anniversary of the passing of our dear friend Andy Krauser, who led this website with energy, humor, and dedication until I had the honor of taking over. Andy was a true sports fan, and it feels right to honor him with the language he loved—the games, the plays, the swings, and the wins. We miss him, but his spirit lives on in the friendships and memories we share here.
If there’s one truth we’ve learned, it’s that we can’t wait for “someday” to do the things that matter most. It really is now or never. Don’t wait to call an old friend. Don’t put off lunch until next month. Don’t tell yourself you’ll plan that trip “when things calm down.” Life doesn’t slow down, and the clock doesn’t stop. We’re already in the fourth quarter, and every play counts. Don’t bunt when you can swing for the fences.
Staying busy, moving around, and keeping our minds engaged is the key to staying vibrant. Whether we’re still working, fully retired, or somewhere in between, we need to keep in motion. Take the walk, ride the bike, get on the plane, try something new, or learn a skill you’ve never attempted. Motion keeps the body young, but connection keeps the soul young. Think of life as a long baseball game—don’t sit in the dugout waiting for a perfect pitch. Step up to the plate. Swing. Score. Life’s extra innings are often the sweetest.
Our friendships are among our greatest treasures. The bonds we formed at Teaneck remind us not just of who we were in 1969, but of who we continue to be today. They ground us, uplift us, and connect us to something bigger than ourselves. We may have left Teaneck long ago, but Teaneck has never left us. Those bonds? They’re our secret strength, our winning team.
Recently, I had the joy of attending the wedding of Barbara Rogers and Randy Krakauer. Do you remember them? Their story is a perfect example of why now matters. They met at our 50th reunion, renewed their bond at the 55th, and within a year, they were married. Think about that—decades later, life still gave them a brand-new beginning. Love, joy, and new opportunities aren’t reserved for the past—they belong to the present. They belong to now. Don’t wait for the next pitch—swing today.
In addition, I had the real pleasure of reconnecting with my college roommate, Steve Muhlstock. It’s been wonderful getting to know him again after all these years. Steve sent me a great piece of history — a clipping from The Record in April 1969, when he was honored as Athlete of the Week. Seeing it brought back so many memories of our time together and reminded me how lucky we are to still have these connections more than 55 years later.
At this stage in life, it’s not about possessions. It’s not about cars, homes, or material things. What matters is how we’ve lived—the laughter, the shared moments, the friendships, and the memories we continue to create. That’s our true scorecard. That’s the legacy we leave behind.
So let’s keep moving forward. Let’s stay active, laugh often, and show up for each other. Make the calls, plan the visits, schedule the lunches. Don’t postpone life. We are in the late innings, friends, and it’s time to play the game with energy, purpose, and joy. Step up to the plate. Run the bases. Keep swinging.
Here’s to good health, deep friendships, and memories still waiting to be made. Life is a series of plays, and every moment counts. The game is ours to play—and it’s now or never.
With gratitude, affection, and pride in being part of this remarkable class,
Mike Gothelf
