So, I happened to drive by the old Golden Hills Country Club today - sheep were grazing on the golf course--maybe getting it ready for our golf tournament!

and happened to think about..............

Frogs!! - in the lake- catching them for Biology class ..... we put 'em under with ether and performed  'live frog" autopsies (uh, I mean scientific examinations of the heart and intestinal systems, etc)  ....ooey, gooey!!

UGH, I remember that!  Weren't we on teams and we had to go out and get our own frogs?  What was up with that?  The school couldn't get frogs for us?  I can't remember who was on my team, but I remember the icky water we had to wade in to try and catch those things.  I think someone on my team got my frogs (maybe Dennis) because I didn't (and still don't) like to get my hands dirty!  :)  Does anyone remember being on my team?

Yikes--how disgusting was that??  Kaye Brooks was my partner and we totally mutilated that poor frog.  I don't remember having to get our own frogs.  I love animals so much that I can't believe I did that.  I would never in a thousand years  do it again.  I have told all my kids and grandkids that they DO NOT have to do that in school--legally the teacher can't make you--they have to give you an alternate assignment.

I think frogs must have been sophomore year. I moved away in the middle of freshman year and was back just before junior year started. So I had my frogs at another school and reading this made me remember how miserable I was there and how glad to move back to Tehachapi. Guess it has always seemed like home to me.
