Rusty was the friend that I played tennis rackets for guitars and lip sang to Beatles records with! Besides Mike Ferraro, Rusty Cugno was my closest friend in my early life--I met him in 3rd grade at Longdon. We were on the same Little Team in '63--Mission Paving. Lots of shared memories, and our friendship continued for many years. I was truly sorry to hear of his passing. If you look at my profile pics, you'll see Rusty, Brad Kingry (RIP) and Scott Thomas, with me, all of us inmitating the Beatles as best we could for the photo.--it's my 10th birthday. party. No matter the changes that time brought to our friendship, I always loved Rusty and hold our shared time together high in my heart--I think he felt the same. I just remembered something that we laughed about often years later--Rudty liked to chew Juicy Fruit gum--but everytime he got in the car if my Mom was driving, she would tell Rusty, in no uncertain terms, to roll the window down and 'spit that damn gum out!'. Yes, Mrs. Moreno...

I'll always remember Rusty as a happy and outgoing guy.

I was down at Qnos Pub at the Queen Mary Village one night, trying most of the 49 or so beers Rusty had available. Then I headed back to  Handlebar's Saloon, where I managed to end up in the emergency room with a broken jaw. Seems someone disagreed with my opinion of something!

Along the backroad that I take to my daughter's school, there is a road that phonetically is pronounced the same. I think of Rusty every time that I see it.
Is Rusty short for anything? Or is that his real name?

I always think of him and his upbeat outlook on life.

Rusty, like Pat Polley, was always ready with a funny line or response. Always seemed like a happy guy.

Sorry to hear of his passing.

We met the summer of 1967, before entering Oak Avenue. Little League, The Oak Gym and the high school pool filled the summer days for Rusty, Ted, Larry Stevens and I. It was our "Wonder Years" and there was no one more upbeat, creative and motivated that Rusty. He was always up for anything and he always brought humor to every situation. A truely fun person to be with.
