P. William Roby

Paul William "Bill" Roby II

Paul W. "Bill" Roby II, passed away peacefully at his home near McCutchenville Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021.

Bill was born in Tiffin, March 24, 1941, to the late Paul W. and Dorothy L. (Hushour) Roby. He married Beverly (Chapman) in New Washington Sept. 18, 1999.

A 1959 graduate of Columbian High School, Tiffin, Bill was employed at General Electric in Tiffin for 22 years until its closure, then worked at Roppe Corporation for 21 years from which he retired.

Always eager to provide for his family, he delivered appliances for Pease Appliance and worked part-time at Gay Lanes Bowling Alley. He served in the Army Reserves out of Tiffin.

Bill is survived by his wife, Beverly; two sons, Brad Roby of Phoenix, Arizona, and Brian (Debbie) Shireman of Oregon, Ohio; a daughter, Dawn Reinbolt of Phoenix, Arizona; stepson, Jason (Karen) Chapman of Galion; a brother, Ron (Karen) Roby of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Greg (Kelli) Watson of Marysville, Eric (Emily) Watson of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Brilee Shireman of Oregon; two great-grandchildren, Cohen and Isley Watson; and his best dog buddy, "Zak."

Bill gained local attention in the 60's and 70's with his bowling skills, being a team member of many leagues and going to many tournaments. He enjoyed competitive trap-shooting and spent many hours on his uncle's boat fishing on Lake Erie. Retirement steered him to other pastime pursuits. He realized his dream of owning a camper and he and Bev traveled to many campgrounds in Ohio and the Midwest, exploring area attractions and enjoying the local food. Bill enjoyed woodworking, always turning out projects like his "Jesus" signs, bird feeders and couch tables which he generously gave to friends and family. A quiet, gentle man, he spent every day filling the bird feeders on his property and spoiling the dog and cats.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Marcia (Strausbaugh) Roby.

The funeral for Bill will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, with the Rev. Cathy Davis and the Rev. Tom Everett officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services Thursday at Fairmont Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to United Veterans Council or the charity of the donor's choice.
