I've always called Tom 'Puff the Magic Dragon' & how he got that name is a story into itself ha :-). Puff was like a brother to me; sweet, thoughtful and ORNERIER than cat -- :-) lol. Gotta have one like that to keep you laughing huh. Puff's outrageous sense of humor couldn't be matched. When I still worked at the College of the Sequoias I had to get there by 6:30am just to get a parking spot. I called Weezy & Puff to say hi & when he'd answer the 1st thing he'd ask was 'are ya married yet' & I'd say No, then he'd ask 'well what the ---- is wrong with ya' lol. I have many treasured memories when I'd stay with them & there wasn't a morning when Puff (Tom) wouldn't go to the Tiffin Bake Shop to get us maple frosted cream sticks. Color me happy, they were so good and so was my adopted brother-Puff :-). I could go on and on but the wealth of treasured memories I hold close in heart are insurmountable. Thank you Puff for being my adopted brother in heart. I still laugh my boo boo off whenever you come to mind. The Reunion before Puff went to heaven, he took Weezy & me cruising around in his immaculately clean truck, playing 1960's Cd's, ending with an ice cream on N Washington. Puff - You are missed a lot.
Tom was kind of everybodies brother! He gave me the nickname of "popcorn" because he knew I loved it so much. He would see me coming down the hall at Columbian and yell "popcorn" at the top of his lungs, only because he knew it would embarass the heck out of me. The memories are many and the smiles when remembering Tom are constant.
I always thought Tommy was a GREAT guy! He reminds me of a "Jimmy Dean" of our generation! I was so happy to see him & Mary @ the reunion at the D of A!!! I too, always thought he was a great, caring & funny guy w a heart of gold! What a terrible loss his death was to Mary & children:-( So very sad.......
OMG, Jenny, your 'James Dean' description of Tommy, aka Puff to me, is so right on. In never thought of it like that but "he was our own James Dean." So suave and cool and equally a very caring, big hearted guy :-) We didn't realize when we were teens that we were making memories - when we thought we were just having FUN. (So You See Tommy, aka Puff - You WILL always be in our hearts and memories) :-) So long as someone remembers US with a Smile or Laugh - then we aren't forgotten:-)
