I wish you a very happy birthday.
I was very sad to learn of Janet's death. We were in high school orchestra together, she in the viola section and I in the trombone section. We were also in many other classes together. We lost touch and then reconnected a couple of years ago on Facebook. Funny how things work that way.

Hi Bruce! How are you doing? What are you doing? I am fine. I have retired from stem cell research to a sort of quiet life in the countryside in Hungary.

Hi John, I guess I am a bit late for timely birthday wishes. I join you at 70 in a few days. What are you up to in your retirement?
I was saddened to read about Steve's death. I considered him one of my good friends in High School, but lost track after graduation, in part because my family moved away from Toledo the next year. Then, about 20 years ago, I was talking to Don Olson and he mentioned that he thought Steve and I were in the same field. Indeed we were. The cell line he developed, I had been using for my studies for years. I knew a number of people from the lab where he did that work as well as a number of people at the Institute were he worked for over 30 years. I just did not realize he was the same Steve Collins from high school. After that, we did exchange emails and I ran into people from his lab at scientific meetings but unfortunately, not him.
