I wanted to let everyone know that I have been in contact with Rose Corcoran Smith today. First, she wanted to make sure that I thank all of you who have sent their prayers, well wishes, cards, flowers, and bracelets to her. She truly appreciates your thoughtfulness and kindnesses. I know many of you have been waiting for an update in regard to Rose and her surgery. I didn't want to write anything on the website without her permission. I wanted to give her some time to recover before I contacted her. I can now tell you that the surgery did not go as originally planned. It turns out that they were not able to complete the procedure due to a vein and an artery being attached to the tumor. The surgeon was able to remove the artery, but couldn't remove the vein for fear of causing excessive bleeding and injury to Rose. The new plan is that they are placing a port in her tomorrow morning so she can begin chemotherapy treatment as soon as she heals from the surgery. After that they hope that the tumor will have shrunk enough so that they can go in and remove ithe tumor using the Whipple procedure. That will probably not be until December at the earliest. So please continue sending your prayers and thoughts her way. On another note she did want me to remind everyone about out monthly lunch at The Beirut tomorrow at 1:00. She is hoping to hear that there were lots of people in attendance! I also hope to see many of you there. I know a good attendance will send positive vibes Rose's way. Thanks!
