The Start High Class of '66 would like to extend a cordial invitation to the Start Class of '67 to start your 70th birthday celebration early by joining your fellow Spartans on Friday, August 16th for a Mexican Fiesta at Tekela Mexican Cocina y Cantina, 5147 Main St. in Sylvania.  We've reserved one of their private rooms so we can mix & mingle and all the fun starts at 6:00 p.m.  There's no admission charge and to make things easy, you'll be able to order food from a special menu of their most popular Mexican dishes as well as drinks (both soft & "adult") and simply pay for whatever you order.  All we ask is that you let us know you'd like to join us so that we can let the restaurant know how to set up the room and plan for staff.  This may be accomplished in one of two ways; either drop us an email at Start66@bex.net, or send us a quick note using the "Contact Us" feature of our Start Class of '66 website.  We really hope you'll join us!

DeVilbiss Alumni are, again, sponsoring an All Toledo High School Reunion at Centennial Terrace on Saturday, August 14. Centennial is located on 5773 Centennial Rd., Sylvania, OH. The cost is $10/person with a cash bar and snacks. The entertainment is provided by "Cheeks". We, locals, would like to get a couple of tables together for anyone who is interested in attending.

I tried calling you yesterday, and the number I dialed was no longer in service, Mike you need to pay your phone bill for crying out loud.

Anyway, I just wanted say that you are really getting old, and I keep getting younger, Mike you need to do what I do, instead of adding another year, I subtract a year, so now I'm 39... too bad for you.

Anyway I hope that you had a great Birthday, we need to have lunch sometime, however I can't get in touch with you, so pay that phone bill, ok

Connection between Start High School and The Voice 2022

For those of you who watch The Voice, I thought you'd find it interesting that there is a remote connection between one of this season's contestants and Charlie Shapiro who is a graduate of Toledo Start High School Class of '66.

Omar Cardona is one of the contestants on the current season of The Voice.  Omar is the lead singer in the Epic Party Band out of Orlando, and Charlie Shapiro's son Brad is the lead guitar player for the band.  Many of you know Brad and have seen him perform at a variety of venues in Orlando or around the country.

We've known Omar for several years, and he is very nice and very talented. I thought you might enjoy knowing of this connection to Toledo, which might add somewhat of a personal interest in watching this season of The Voice.

Epic Party Band posted on Facebook that Monday night (11/14/2022) is Omar's first night of Live Shows on The Voice. It's time for us to SHOW UP for him with love and support and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. The show is at 8PM(EST) and you can vote 2 different ways. ONLINE:  NBC.com/VoiceSave  OR you can download the app and do it there. We are able to vote 10x's on each platform. Let's show him some global love and VOTE!

I still have my year books from our years at Start - September 1963 to June 1967.

If anyone here, lost their year books, or never ordered one, I am offering mine free of charge to you. Of course, the year books are written in. You can email me directly at   mikevenia@comcast.net  

I would probably UPS the books to you. Free. I hate to throw them out, if someone would be interested.

My husband Mike and I live in Oakland County, Michigan, about an hour and a half driving time from Toledo.

I enjoyed my years at Start, and I enjoyed knowing you all, but I can't keep everything.
