Alphonse King Obituary 

Alphonse R. "Al" King, age 65, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Ebeid Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 15, 1948, to Edward and Lizzette (Schmidt) King in Toledo. Al served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army. He was a tool and die maker for GM Powertrain for 34 years. During the last ten years of his career at GM, Al became a phenomenal lock smith. A vending entrepreneur, he began selling hot dogs, sloppy joe, and snacks to his fellow coworkers in the skilled trade area. Al was an avid wine maker. A parishioner of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, he organized Donut Sundays and was fondly referred to as the "Donut Master," Also, Al was a mentor to many children at the parish elementary school. Al is survived by his mother, Lizzette; sons, Chris King, Brian (Traci) King and Gary King; grandchildren, Siehra, Damian, Maizey and Madeline King; sisters, Peggy Henry, Marsha Thorburn and Kathy Sweeney; brothers, Jim (Cheryl) King, Joseph King, and Phillip (Victoria) King, and best friend, Karen Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward and sister, Mary Ide. Family and friends may visit Friday from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 Alexis Rd. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Deacon James Dudley presiding. Services will conclude with Military Honors. Memorial Donations may be given to Regina Coeli Catholic Church.
