I first met Jackie at Holiday Jr High School.  Though not a close friend, I remember Jackie as a quiet, unassuming, kind person.  I can't ever recall Jackie raising her voice  or being angry.  I found out at her funeral that the Jackie I knew was the authentic Jackie.  Jackie had a day-care program for many years.  I talked with one of the women who had 2 sons that Jackie had in her daycare.  I asked her if she had ever seen Jackie angry or impatient with the kids and she said no.  Jackie would stop by to pick up her boys on Wednesday nights to take them to church at the Oakland Nazarene church.  She worked with children there, also.  She attended that church  for over 50 years.  The minister described Jackie as a good person her lived her faith.  I was glad to find out that she also had fun and enjoyed playing cards or dominoes on Saturday nights,  which seems more fun-filled than most of my Saturday nights. I will miss seeing her at our reunions.

I was Jackie's Bible Study leader during the 2013-14 year. She experienced numerous health problems during the year, but she was very faithful in her attendance. When we finished in May she was in a rehab center in isolation due to a serious infection . After she returned home she got pneumonia which caused her death. Her granddaughters told me they wished she hadn't died. She was a very caring and sharing person.
