Steve Nelson passed away January 15, 2014 in Annandale, Virgina. His passing was reported by classmate John Taylor who learned of his death on the K-State Alumni page. They were roommates, freshman year at K-State.
Classmate Sharon Scarbrough writes that she recently ran across a newspaper clipping with a picture in her Mom & Dad's stuff. The picture was of solders from Topeka leaving for World War II. Her Dad and a man named Harry Nielson where piuctured in Navy Uniforms. She is sure that its our classmate Harry Nielson's Father. She wonders if anyone knows how to contact Herry brother Bobby to see if he is interested in a copy of the picture?
Steve and I were never close friends but I remember his sharp intelligence and wit, and envied his skill on the piano, especially playing jazz. I wish I had come to know him better and I hope he continued to enjoy his music all his life.
