I certainlyrespect the memory of Ron! We worked nights together @ Butners's IGA-he,Grover Jackson, myself and Ron's brother Jerry(best man in our wedding)stocking shelves. He , along with Skip G. were two people that come to mind with that work ethic which helped them to work full-time while balancing family responsibilities(those Washburn quonset huts where he & family lived were as dismal as it gets in USA!) and college completion! Job well done guys!
We had some fun for a bit playing baseball in Wathena,KS after graduation...
Ron and Margaret Bliss were friends at THS but became even closer when we lived near them on the Washburn campus. Sandy and I remember Ron and Margaret, Larry and Jeri Claspil, Dave and Fran Cowen as well as Doug and Jan Hamilton playing cards into the night on campus.
Probably should not tell this but when Ron was manning a checkout at the IGA store on Gage, he wanted us to come thru his line because by some slight-of-hand magic some of the more pricy items we picked up did not get rang up. Of course we never did figure out how that happened, we just thought that he got in hurry (ha ha)! He knew we were all living in abject poverty.
