John died in a horrific head-on car accident on the back highway (instead of the turnpike) from Topeka on his way to his last final exam at KU before graduating. This would have been in June, 1965.
John was the leader of the pack in our "Stand by Me" Boswell Junior High group and a smart and fun friend. He had always planned on becoming a doctor.
John was a good friend at THS and after. He was smart, outspoken and fun to be around. Sandy and I double dated with he and Susan on numerous occasions. He was a bright pre-Med student at KU when he died in an automobile accident.
I remember the way he walked! It was kind of a swagger like John Wayne, I guess. He could make you langh about anything that happened in the world. He read the newspaper everyday and was current on "what's happenin' now".
