Mel was born August 26, 1947, in Topeka, the son of Arthur & Emmadell Goodall Jones. He graduated from Highland Park High School & served in the United States Army. Mel married Jan Billings on February 14, 1970, in Auburn, Kansas; they had celebrated 50 years together. He was a service manager at the 7-UP Bottling Company in Topeka for 29 years & retired from Northern Pipeline as a cartographer. He was a member of VFW Post 1650 & American Legin Post 1.
