Hang Outs

We didn't just congregate in class, because if we did I wouldn't know any of you!

This is just a forum to talk about where you got together to meet without the prying eyes of parents, teachers, or other authority figures capable of squashing your fun.

The first and foremost place I met with friends and at times non-friends was my house. My mother, God rest her soul, would go to work around 10 everyday, leaving the house unattended. I told her in her later years about her home being used as 'party headquarters' and quite frankly she wasn't too surprised. She was just happy I kept the place halfway clean and didn't get arrested. LOL!

Another place was Dornwood Park. I don't know how many hours I spent traversing those trails. I still walk there from time to time, but they changed the trails and it's quite a bit differant. But every once in a while I'll hear or see the ghosts of my teenage hippie friends, living and dead.

And of course, there was White Lakes mall.

I hung out predominately with the "Oakland" crowd which usually meant the front porch of John Dennis's house or up the street at Charlie (aka Hotdog) Spencer's place. I seem to remember several lunch time get togethers over at Kevin Lister's house also, since it was only a few blocks from school. Anybody remember any of the keg parties we had down by the river on the sand bars?

I remember a few parties in that general area. There was one when Gary Lane, Kevin Perkins, Tony Rhoads, and Randy Lemon played, I believe on the banks of the Shunganunga.

There was a bar at 28th and Fairlawn by the bowling alley. It was later Green Parrot. Can't remember the name. It was full of Black Lights...

Remember the old volkswagon in the quarry?  Was anyone there the night it got pushed into the quarry?  My sisters crowd (Kathy) did that one.

And of course crusin the strip, hanging out at the various stops along the way.
