Dropping out of high school in my senior year, I got a GED and later, a job at a company that built courthouse equipment and museum storage cabinets. I worked there for 11 years and started working at another company that basically did the same thing and worked there for 19 years until the economy forced them to make some deep cutbacks.
I attended Topeka Technical college where I met my wife, Judith, who was the librarian, and is now the Director of the Pottawattamie-Wabaunsee Regional Library system. I graduated with an associates degree in business technology and a lovely wife.
Although I learned to play guitar in high school, a debilitating case of shyness prevented me from realizing my dream as a rock star so in 2008 at the age of 52 with nothing left to lose, I joined a band as a bassist and we played all over the area for almost a year until we folded. But it was a great experience and I would do it again if I could find the right people.
My wife and I enjoy taking driving vacations, the latest being a fall excursion to the Lake of the Ozarks, then heading down to Branson MO, ending the trip by attending a Norman OK perfomance of U2.
These are two of the brass and copper models that I build as a hobby. The photo was published online at worldsweeper.com along with a story that I wrote about why I built them.
