Theodore "Buddy" McCall, Jr., 77, of Hoyt, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 surrounded by his family.
He was born June 2, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Theodore, Sr. and Juanita (Smith) McCall. He graduated from Topeka High School.
Buddy married Christine "Chris" Louise McCall on February 10, 1968 in Topeka, KS. Together they traveled all 50 states and to over 30 countries. Their favorite trip together was to the Holy Land where they got to travel through Egypt, Jordan and Israel. They also went on several cruises.
Buddy was a Dental Equipment Repairman for Patterson Dental for 29 years. He later opened Busy Buddy's and continued to work with local Dental offices in Topeka. He also worked for 3M company, served nine years in the United States Army Security Agency and was the Resident Manager for Forest Park.
He was a long-time member of Highland Heights Christian Church, and was a devoted Christian man. He took pride in teaching various Bible study groups and Sunday school classes. He mentored a lot of young men that attended church.
In addition to his dedication to the church, Buddy was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for more than 20 years. He served as a Scout Master and was in Wood Badge (Owl). During his time in the Wood Badge, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. Buddy also served his community by volunteering and mentoring at the Topeka Rescue Mission.
His greatest pride and joy were his family. Buddy adored the time he was able to spend with them and loved to have large gatherings at their house together. He was an avid Spanish language learner and even studied the Bible in Spanish. He also enjoyed reading, working with his hands and performing in dramas and dinner theaters through the church. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Buddy had a large collection of Scale Model DieCast Cars.

He leaves behind his wife, Chris McCall; his children, Mike (Yongnan) McCall and Wayne (Melissa) McCall; foster son, Corey (Dana) Grame; grandchildren, Jessica L. McCall, Gregory (Bailey) R. McCall, Jon Grame, Cailin Grame and Jena Grame; great grandchildren, Avery McCall, Matthew McCall and Danielle McCall; and his siblings, Virginia (Tim) McCracken and Tim (Beth) McCall. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Georgia "Jo" Stark.
His family will greet relatives and friends from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Parker Price and Davidson Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Highland Heights Christian Church, 2930 SE Tecumseh Rd, Tecumseh, KS 66542. He will be laid to rest at Topeka Cemetery.
