Donald Uhl

Donald Dale Uhl, 67 of Lancaster, KS died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at his home in Lancaster. Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, Nov. 21st, 2012 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Jacqueline Berlien, Pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 20th, 2012 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, 800 Kansas Ave., Atchison, KS. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Red Cross and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com. Donald was born on May 23, 1945 in Holton, KS., the son of Roy V. and Roberta (Huntsman) Uhl. He graduated from Highland Park High School, Topeka and worked for over 39 years for the Union Pacific Railroad where he held the jobs of Switchman, Conductor, and Foreman before retiring in 2005. Mr. Uhl was Lutheran, was a member of the United Transportation Union, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, going to the casino and spending time with family and friends. He was married to Kathy A. Mercer on July 16, 1965 in Topeka, KS. Mrs. Uhl survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son; Donald B. and wife Wendy Uhl, Mascotah, IL., a daughter; Shelly and her husband Jody Goodpasture, Horton, KS., two brothers; Vernon Uhl, O'Fallon, MO., Dennis Uhl, Topeka, KS., three grandchildren; A.J., & Alex Goodpasture, Atchison, KS. and Tony Uhl, Mascotah, IL., one great grandson; Camden Goodpasture. His parents, brother; Larry Uhl, and two beloved granddaughters; Jessica and Kelli Uhl preceded him in death.
