David Michael Mann, 65, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at Topeka Community Healthcare Center of renal failure. He was a long-time resident there. Mr. Mann was born January 21, 1944 in Topeka, Kansas to Charles Richard "Dick" Mann and Leta L. (Watson) Mann. As a boy he participated in Boy Scouts. He graduated from Highland Park High in 1963. Mr. Mann endured mental health issues from birth. He fiercely kept his independence for quite a few years, working in Lyndon, Kansas City, Lawrence, Topeka and Manhattan before becoming completely disabled. He was preceded in death most recently by his sister, Janet S. Askren on Nov. 12, 2009; his sister, Marilyn Mann and his parents. Survivors include nephews, Scott McCulley, Burien, WA; Kurt McCulley, St. Louis, MO; and Dan McCulley, Manhattan; a niece Marisa Askren-Newman, Santee, CA; as well as great-nieces and a great-nephew to whom he was known as Uncle Mike. A joint memorial service with his sister Janet is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 in Manhattan. Arrangements are being handled by Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel and Yorgenson- Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapels. Inurnment will be at Sunrise Cemetery, Manhattan.
