I attended a wake for Gwendolyn on one of my return visits to Topeka; I believe it was in the early 2000's; I don't recall the exact year. I have searched on the internet and made a few calls, trying to locate her obituary with no success. As I recall, she had married a minister and was living in Kansas City, Kansas at the time of her passing.

When I started attending Highland Park Elementary School in the second grade, Gwen was one of my best friends. I have vivid memories of the two of us climbing on the monkey bars on the old playground and, during one summer, trying to weave those goofy plastic lanyards at some craft activity our parents dropped us off at. I regret that I do not have more to add; except that she was always a very nice person and wonderful friend.

I haven't had contact with any of my classmates for the whole fifty years.  One person I really looked forward to seeing was Gwendolyn.  I can't remember anytime when she wasn't there.  I had hoped to renew aquaintance with her.  Even though I'm so far away, in Georgia, I will miss this tall gal who's smile would light up my day.  May the Lord treat you as the special person you were to me. I hope Larry gets to read this as he too was a favorite classmate.
