Bob Dennison

After high school I got a draft notice. After careful consideration I decided that the Army was not for me. I liked the Marine Corps better (mostly because I liked the dress uniform the most). So I went down and signed up. After a few days at boot camp I started regretting that decision. Soon, however, I decided I had made the right choice. I served our county in the Republic of South Vietnam as a CH-46 (Sea Knight) helicopter door gunner. Whew, had some pretty close calls while I was there.

When I got discharged from the Marines in 1969 I went to work for Santa Fe Railway. I married Renea in 1977 and together we have 4 girls (2 mine, 1 hers (which I adopted), and 1 ours). My job at Santa Fe was abolished in 1982. After a few years we decided to move back to Topeka.

In 1986 I figured it would be a good idea to go back to school so I attended Washburn University until 1992 when I got me BA degree in Computer Information Systems. Upon graduation I went to work for the Kansas Department of Revenue as a database administrator. I worked for the state in a few other capacities until I finally retired in 2011.

In July 2013 I got offered a job at HP as a C programmer. I thought, "what the heck, I need something to do", so I accepted it.

In 1998 I decided to try my hand at the Professional Bowlers Tour. I didn't win any titles, but I had a lot of fun and learned a lot about the game. Now I am enjoying playing golf and bowling for fun.

I don't remember which night it was, but it was during the performance of Fiorello. It was during the scene where we were sitting at a table playing cards. I was the dealer and Frank Platt was Fiorello. (I can't remember all of the other guys in the scene). Anyway, during this one show we got a little crazy "in the moment" and the chair that Fiorello was sitting in on top of the table almost fell off. Yes, with Frank in it. We had to do some serious ad-libbing to keep the chair, and Frank, on top of the table. Kinda scary, but later kinda funny. Nobody knew it wasn't part of the scene (at least I don't think so).
