Serah “Sheron” (Chambers) Stewart, 66, of Topeka, Kansas went home August 21, 2017. She was born September 1, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Robert W. Chambers, Sr. and Daveva A. (Joyce) Chambers.

Sheron attended Belvoir Elementary, Highland Park Jr. High School, and graduated from Highland Park High School with the class of 1968.

Sheron was employed at Hallmark cards and the State of Kansas, retiring from both.

Sheron attended Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. She was very active in various organizations within the church including the Deaconess Board, Queen Esther, Benevolence, Lual, and trunk or treat committees. Mission Union, Baby visitor, Education Department, Josephine Minter Circle, Sunday School Treasurer, Sunbeams, Women’s Sunday School Class, Community feed, Back to School, and wherever else she was needed in the church.

Sheron was united in marriage to Thomas “Tommy” N. Stewart on March 14, 1970 in Topeka, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include her son, Tyson L. Stewart of Holter, Texas; daughter, Tia L. (Stewart) Alejos of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Thomas L. Stewart of Topeka, Kansas, Keri L. (Stephen) Burton of Keller, Texas, and Evan Alejos and Tylan Alejos of Topeka, Kansas; four sisters, Joyce L. Chambers, Sandra D. Chambers and Linda E. Chambers, all of Topeka and Ethel M. (Chambers) Elliott of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Leray S. Chambers and Lynn G. Chambers of Topeka, Kansas; a brother-in-law Freddie Stewart; and a sister-in-law, Philla Stroman of Washington DC; cousins that were raised as brothers and sisters, Doa McClelland, Ronald McClelland, Brenda Johnson, Jerome Joyce, Tyrone (Terry) Joyce; a special cousin, Milo Mitchell of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert W. Chambers, Sr. and Daveva A. (Joyce) Chambers.
She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Robert “Bobby” Chambers, Jr.; Cynthia K. Chambers; her aunt, Amanda Sharp; and cousins, Helen Nichols and Wayne McClelland.

Funeral services will be held at Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota.
