Kathy Elaine Bomberger, 50, San Leon, Texas, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2001, at a Pasadena, Texas, hospital. She had cancer. 

She was born Nov. 16, 1950, in Marfrance, W. Va., the daughter of Albert W. and Mickie Johnson Copen. 
 
Mrs. Bomberger was an avid golfer and a member of the South Shore Harbour Country Club in League City, Texas, and the Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence. She made a hole-in-one twice in her life -- one at Dickinson Country Club and one at Galveston Country Club.

She married Jon Bomberger on April 19,1969, in Topeka. They were divorced.

Survivors include her mother, Mickie Bruggen, Topeka; a son, Jay Bomberger, Houston; a daughter, Cristy Drotts, League City, Texas; three sisters, Ginger Martinek, Lise Perrine and Rebecca Losson, all of Topeka; and a brother, Albert W. Copen Jr., Topeka.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Bomberger will lie in state at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Friday.
