Ray Louis Cushinberry Sr.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ for Ray Louis Cushinberry Sr., 43, Topeka.  He died Wednesday October 16, 1991, at a Topeka hospital.  He had been ill several years.

Mr. Cushinberry was housekeeping supervisor at Topeka State Hospital before his health failed.

He was born November 5, 1947, at Topeka, Kansas, the son of Torrence and Ovetta Thomas Cushinberry.  Mr. Cushinberry was a member of Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ; the St. John Bowling League for ten years and Ebonite Bowling League for three years.

He was married to Cleora Henderson on September 5, 1970.  She survives.  Other survivors include a daughter Bridget Cushinberry, Topeka; three sons, Ray Cushinberry Jr., Cornell Cushinberry and Cufton Cushinberry, all of Topeka. 

Also surviving is his mother, Orvetta Cushinberry, Topeka; two sisters Alice Young and Ernestine Baylor, both of Topeka; and five brothers, Lloyd Cushinberry, Larry Cushinberry, Robert Cushinberry George Cushinberry and Norman Cushinberry, all of Topeka; and a grandchild.

Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery.  Mr. Cushinberry will lie in state after 4 p.m. Monday at Bowser-Johnson Funeral Chapel where the family and friends will meet from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday.
