Steven W. Hite

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home for Steven W. Hite, 23, 1817 Harp Place, who died of head injuries shortly after arrival at a Topeka hospital Wednesday following a car-motorcycle accident at 37th and Burlingame Road.

He was born July 28, 1950, at Olympia, Washington and had lived in Topeka since 1958.  He attended Topeka public schools and was graduated from Highland Park High School in 1968. He was a tire builder at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Mr. Hite was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist church and former member of the Civil Air Patrol.  He participated in karate activities.

He was married August 2, 1968, to Warrena Walters.  She survives at the home.  Other survivors include a daughter, Cassandra Hite at home, his father and stepmother, Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Hite, Carbondale; his mother, Mrs. Doris Smith, Rainier, Washington; two brothers, Donald L. Hite Jr., San Antonio, Texas, and Scott Hite, Carbondale; a sister, Laurie Ann Hite, Carbondale, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hite, Redfield, Mrs. Mabel Scott, Rainier, Washington and Mrs. Frieda Payne, Royal Oak, Michigan; and a great-grandmother, Mrs. Anna Kuschel, Detroit, Michigan.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Riley Cemetery, Riley.  Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, 1329 W. 37th, Topeka, 66611.
