Terrence "John" Martin

Topeka - Terrence "John" Martin, 71, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021, at a Topeka hospital. He was born May 23, 1950, in Topeka, the son of Terrence L. and Ivadell (Spangler) Martin.

John graduated from Highland Park High School in 1968. He served as a Navy Corpsman during the Vietnam War. He then earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Washburn University. John was employed as a financial advisor for Waddell & Reed Financial Services for 41 years before retiring in 2019.

John married Sherry L. Hunt on January 5, 1974, at the Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Sara (Wayne) Becker of Wichita, and Dana (Dallas) Johnson of Topeka, five grandchildren, Davin, Griffin, Chase, Parker, and Halle and his siblings, Anne (Ron) Attebery of Topeka, Greg (Bonny) Martin of Lexington, Texas and Merle (Betty) Martin of Topeka.

John was preceded in death by his sister, Jamie West.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021, at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
