Life Legacy : Marie Smith
Laudie “Marie” Booth, of Topeka, Kansas died Monday, May 8, 2017. She was born on July 7, 1950 in Savannah, Missouri the daughter of Thomas and Neva (Taylor) Smith. Marie graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Education from Washburn University and a Master’s degree from Lesley College. She was a teacher for 27 years with 20 years at USD #501. She was a member of the Family Life Church of the Nazarene. Marie enjoyed her granddaughter(s), dogs, teaching, I-Hop and Hallmark movies. Marie is survived by her daughter, Kimberly A. (Newton) Cousin, granddaughter, Jazlyn Marie Cousin, sister, Gail Boyett, brother, Chris (Marla) Smith, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother E.J. Smith. Her family will receive friends at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home on Saturday, May 20th from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. It is with great sorrow that I share that we have lost yet another precious classmate. I first met Marie at Vacation Bible School in the late fifties, we became friends swiftly and remained so through our class reunions. It was always so much fun running into her; here and there. We all miss you Marie!!!
