It doesn't look like anyone has used this forum in a while. I just want to say I had a wonderful time at the 50th reunion. I want to thank Phyllis, Lynda, Jerry and all the others who worked their butt off to make this a major event! All those who couldn't go, I will say, you missed one heck of a party and a trip down memory lane.  Steve Northington

Thank you everyone who worked so hard and spent hours and hours of planning to give each of us a wonderful evening!  I loved talking with everyone and wished there had been a bit more time to do that.  The years have flown by but thanks to many of you who attended I have such fun and funny memories of high school.  Our experiences laid groundwork for a terrific life.  It was a special evening.  Looking forward to seeing pictures...Joann Driggers

Hi everyone.  I have not responded before this because I didn't know about the Message Forum.  This is a wonder website and I hope that we can keep it going by occasionally returning to the site to post news.  I just read all of the messages and enjoyed each and everyone.

Thanks to everyone for putting together such a wonderful 50 Year Class Reunion.  It was so fantastic seeing all of you and talking to a lot of you.  Unfortunately, the time went so fast that I didn't get to talk to everyone.  What memories came rushing back to me as I spoke to my friends from those good old days.  I just wish that everyone was able to attend but, of course, that is not possible.  One can only wish.

Love to everyone,

Mona Wilson Dominik

Hi everyone,

Last week I was called to attend Helen Salas' (married name was "De La Torre") funeral. She was born July 11, 1944, and died March 29, 2016. She is survived by 4 siblings, 3 sons, and 7 grandchildren. Memorial services were held April 7, 2016 at St Margaret Mary Church in Lomita, California. She lost her battle with cancer. I was out of town. I was told the church was filled with 800 people. Many fond memories were shared. I will always remember her sweet smile.

Blessings to all, Mary (Duarte) Alvidrez

Hi all, hope this finds everyone well. Just an FYI, Kathy Novotny Nelson, from the class of '63, just notified me of an upcoming event that you may be interested in. On Sept 9, 2017 there is going to be a big reunion celebrating Torrance High School turning 100 years old! I will post more information when it comes in. Maybe someone in our class with a lot of energy can put together a 55th reunion at the same time?

One other item, while I ramble on. Would any of you be interested in becoming our class administrator? This site has not been updated since our 50th reunion. Unfortunately, we have lost some more classmates that have not been added to the IN Memory section. I tried the Contact Us section, with no response. Bye for now, Steve

Sounds like fun to me.  Steve and I have kept busy here in Lake Havasu City with volunteer obligations, car clubs, and family.  We have added 4 great grandsons to our tribe in the last 18 months. Funny after all of the girls! Hope all are well and happy. Ginny Buckalew (Hubbert)

TORRANCE HIGH SCHOOL CENTENNIAL   Hi all, hope this finds everyone well. Thank you Jimmy & Ginny for your response to my post of the THS Centennial. Here is some more information for everyone. The weekend of September 8-9, 2017 will be the big event. I encourage all of the class of 1962 to subscribe to the centennial committee's mailing list at TorranceHighCentennial.com  They have put out 2 news letters already on 7/22 & 7/28, you can read them by subscribing. On the second news letters they are asking for school photos to put on a Campus History. The person to contact is on that news letter also. Since 2017 will be our 55 reunion year, I hope this event will be special! I will post anymore information I find out about, Steve

Hi Roxanne, nice to hear from you, thanks for responding. Lynda can probably help you find out more about being the administrator. I don't know if you remember Kathy Novotny, from the class of '63. She & I e-mail a lot. She is the administrator of their class, but I think its on Facebook (which I refuse to join). She is Kathy Nelson now, her e-mail is kathyn@socalrr.com. I'm sure she would love to help you get started. I'm so very sorry to hear about Bob. He was always such a nice guy. If you take on the administrator job, Kathy can give you a lot of names of our '62 classmates who have passed on. She sends me notice everytime she hears about another one. She is a member of the Torrance Historical Society. Their located in the old downtown library building. Very interesting to go through if you are in Torrance. Hope to see you at the big THS birthday party. If you have any questions, my e-mail is dunwerkinsteve@gmail.com. Steve

Thank you for the information Steve.  I just talked to Lynda and she gave me some info.  I will contact Kathy for sure.  The THS Party sounds wonderful.  So do you know any the details for the schedule that weekend?  I need to get on that site and see if there are any updates.  It's possbile I could get 4 generations from my family to go.  My Aunt Ruth who is 97, Randy's Mom! my sisters and cousins, my son and his cousins and my niece's daughter and I am sure there are other people that have the same situation as my Family.

Hi Roxanne, Bringing 4 generations of your family to the centennial would be just awesome! Did you get on the mailing list of torrancehighcentennial.com? I haven't seen anything lately from them. They are trying to get money by selling bricks. I haven't bought any (yet), Kathy has purchased 2 of them! She seems to know as much about "anything THS" as anybody, including the upcoming centennial. Did you ever go to any of the '60 reunions at the Del Amo Room? Kathy & Sandy Kraig put those on. At a couple of them I went to, I remember seeing both of your sisters Penny & Nancy there, but not you. Those reunions were really fun, because you also saw people from other classes of the 60's. I understand the Del Amo Room has since been torn down. I hope you are well & happy, keep in touch, Steve

Hi all, jeez, nobody has posted in years. We should be having a 60th reunion this year, but I haven't heard a word? Is it possible to get something in the works? Jump in, we aren't getting any younger! Steve

Might be too late for a 60th. Many of us are out of state. Perhaps those who want to meet can, pick a hotel and date. Than try to narrow it down to one date and place? 😵‍💫🍺

Mike Heath just sent me an email announcing John Cambon's passing.  I thought John would have out lived us all.  My cadet roomates had a bet that I would never make it through my 21st birthday, was a little wide.  They are all gone now.  Crazy world.

Joann Portlock (Driggers)

Dear Alan, thank you for letting us know about John.  It's really difficult to see our classmates pass on.  Since we are scattered all over the country it's really hard to keep track of what's happening to our acquaintances and friends from high school.   It's been especially isolating due to the pandemic.   Hoping there is some fun in your future. My best wishes to everyone for a wonderful summer of 2023.  Joann Portlock Driggers
